Neurological Disorders
This project aims at the development and validation of high-field in vivo MR spectroscopy as a tool for clinical differential diagnostics and treatment monitoring of different neurological pathologies such as tumors, multiple sclerosis, abscesses and genetic defects.
This project also supports studies performed in the MRI user lab. Former and ongoing physiological studies focus on neuronal plasticity and neuroregeneration in different neuropathology’s such as traumatic injuries and multiple sclerosis in the spinal cord or CADASIL and Mitochondrial zytopathies in the human brain as well as the neurobiological base of pain and sleep disorders such as migraine or narcolepsy.
To that recent developments regarding absolute quantification, 2D-resolved MRS, spectral editing, high-field MRSI along with functional 31P and 13C MRS are combined with other MR imaging modalities and additional clinical investigations.
